我少时师从岭南水彩画家胡距湛与陈秀娥，后往德国斯图加特国立美术学院深造视觉平面设计。早期的绘画和插图风格受到教授尼古拉斯·卓斯乐平面风格影响，善用活泼的色彩和线条，几何图形等平面元素。用花创作是今年偶然的机会开始的，早期是摄影记录，后来延伸到绘画和物件装置，不断深入中。
    When I was young I learned to draw and paint Watercolours from the Chinese watercolourists Juzhan Hu and Xiue Chen. After my graduation in Guangzhou I went to Germany to study communication design at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design. My early paintings and illustrations are influenced by my Professor Niklaus Troxler: use of lively colours, lines and geometric shapes, such as the elements of two dimensional compositions. The art project of petals began this year because of an unexpected opportunity. The first experiment was to use petals to wrap some objects and make photos of them. Later I extended this to paintings and ceramic objects. I am still exploring this style.
    

    

    

    

    

    
    爱花之心人人皆有，古往今来以花为题材的艺术文化创作更不可尽数。我也是一爱花之人，而我花瓣装裹的创作源于惜花之心。我从德国移居荷兰已近三年，生活在一个恬静的小村庄赫尔森。这儿和附近都有许多温室，种植花草和蔬果。今年的春天暖得太早，一位朋友温室里的大量三色堇等不到出货的日子就开花了。看着工人把盛放的花朵摘下来丢弃，我觉得可惜，就收集起来运到画室里。
    Most people love flowers. There has always been art and literature on flowers through the ages. I am a person who loves flowers. Not only do I love to see them but I also want to keep them. That is how I got the inspiration for my flower project. Three years ago I moved from Germany to the Netherlands to live in the quiet village of Huissen. There are many greenhouses here and in the surroundings. There they grow flowers and vegetables. The spring of this year was very warm, resulting in large number of pansies that bloomed before the delivery date in the greenhouse of my friend. I was pity to see workers pick the flowers to discard them. So I collected them and brought them to my studio.
    

    

    

    

    
    花的视觉美感在于色与形，而大多人认知的形是花朵的外形，也就是花瓣簇拥成团的组合形态。当这个形态被解散和打破后，便似花非花，迷离梦幻了。大概是深受平面设计学术的影响，我善于把结构化的事物拆散解剖，再重新组合。多年前在德国美术学院毕业的时候，我做的主题是＂迷彩＂。虽说和花瓣装裹是风格截然不同的创作，但这迷幻却出自同门。
    The visual beauty of flowers comes from their colours and shapes. But most people recognize the shape of a complete flower which is a combination of petals to form a group. When this form is taken apart, you still associate the parts with a flower, but it is no longer a flower. It becomes a dreamlike illusion. My way of thinking is influenced by my academic graphic design education. I am used to breaking up the anatomy of an object and then re-assembling it again. Years ago when I graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Germany, the theme of my graduate work was “camouflage”. Compared to the petals this is a different artistic expression, but the creative idea comes from the same source.
    

    

    
    花瓣装裹是条还无人走的路，技术上各种曲折不能尽数，可我是沉迷了，就得继续走。今年的春天我完成了一系列静物摄影作品，取材就是画室或家居的物品。创作的过程是愉悦兴奋的，因为这也是个游戏，只有我自己知道藏在花瓣后的真实面目。那个茶壶是新是旧，是中是西？那是我爱藏起来的故事。那些生活中普通的物件，被花瓣赋予了生机与灵性。我用花瓣隐藏物品对象本身固有的质感，保留的只是形，塑造神秘而充满幻想的新艺术形态。创作的空间和自由度非常大，用什么花，什么颜色，都形成不同的情感和意境。这是我着迷的原因。
    The art of wrapping petals took me on a path no one had taken before. There are many kinds of twists and turns. But I am fascinated by it, so my journey has to go on. This spring I finished a series of still life photographs. The objects are some simple items found in my studio and home. The creative process is an enjoyable and exciting time, because this is also a kind of game. Only I know the true surface of the object hidden by the petals after it is wrapped. Is the teapot new or old, from the east or the west? That is the story I love to hide. Those ordinary objects from my daily life are given a life of spirituality by the flowers. I hide the original texture of the object, keeping visible only the shape. Thus I have created a new art form, full of mystery and fantasy. Creativity gives me free rein. Different flowers and different colours leads to formation of different emotions and moods. This is the reason why it fascinates me.
    

    

    

    

    

    
    说艺术大家总会觉得很深，或许是因为当眼睛没看懂，读诠释更是云里雾里。我觉得艺术就是受了感动后用自己的心和手表达出来，寻找共鸣。当代艺术更注重个人的情绪抒发，懂不懂，我觉得无需与作者一致。受到感动，继而思考，便是个人的得益。在我的画展上，记得一位观者感叹道，这才是艺术啊！我掩嘴一笑，欢迎来到我的花瓣迷藏。
    People always say that art conveys a deeper meaning. Perhaps because they cannot understand what their eyes see. After reading the interpretation they feel even more confused. I think art for me is when I feel touched, and then I use my heart and hands to express emotions, and try to find resonance in the viewer. But there is no need to agree with the artist. Contemporary art expresses more personal feelings. To be touched, and to reflect on the work of art, is the individual’s gain. At one of my exhibitions, I remember a viewer’s comment: “this is real art!”.
